President - Ryan Lofton Payne

Ryan Lofton Payne is a Senior at Texas State University in San Marcos. He is a Double Major in History and Political Science. This is his second year on the College Democrats Board. During his first year of service Ryan served as Development Director, where he worked with former President Andy Jones and the board to not only launch the first Texas College Democrats Fall Policy Conference, but also raise funds that paved the way for making Texas College Democrats stronger in the coming year. As well as raise funds and awareness Ryan has lead the creation of the the Texas Delegation going to North Carolina for the CDA National Convention in 2010. While serving Ryan was appointed to the CDA National Finance Committee where he has worked on a national level with College Democrats.

Vice President - Garrett Hall

Garrett Hall was born and raised in McKinney, Texas and now lives in Austin, TX where he is taking his victory lap at St. Edwards University as a Political Science major with an emphasis in Political Management. Garrett first became interested in politics when he read a speech Barack Obama had given about the role of faith in politics at the Sojourner’s Call to Renewal Conference in June of 2006. For the next 2 years of his life, he dedicated himself to making sure Barack Obama was elected President by becoming a Precinct Captain, a delegate to the Travis County Democratic Convention, and becoming involved in his school’s College Democrats chapter. After attending President Obama’s inauguration, Garrett became active in local elections by interning on a city council campaign, and leading gubernatorial candidate Bill White’s canvass operation in Travis County during the primary season. During the 2009-2010 school year, Garrett served as President of the College Democrats at St. Edward’s where he helped to build the organization. The College Democrat’s at St. Edwards hard work paid off when they were awarded the Naranjo Grant for a media project at the 2009 Texas College Democrats Fall conference. When Garrett is not helping to turn Texas blue, he enjoys playing guitar, keeping film photography alive, and complaining about the suburbs.

Secretary - Oscar Boleman

Oscar Boleman was born and raised in Galveston, TX. The first time he ever voted for a democrat was in his kindergarten’s class mock election, he’s been politically minded ever since. Since graduating from Ball High School’s Engineering and Industrial Sciences Academy, he has attended Baylor University in Waco, TX; first majoring in Computer and Electrical Engineering, then finding his home with Psychology, minoring in Philosophy. Oscar joined Baylor Democrats the third week of his freshman year, and has held an officer position since his fifth week. He was President from Fall 2008 to Spring 2010, resigning so he can better focus on the state federation. He is also a supervising undergraduate RA in a NIH-funded laboratory at Baylor investigating the efficacy of mind-body interventions with smoking cessation, hot flashes and other health psychology related issues, so researching and nerding-out is sort of his thing.

Development Director - Dallen Terrell

Dallen Terrell of Austin Texas is a junior at Texas State University-San Marcos. He was an athlete and musician most of his life up until his junior year of high school when he gained an interest in politics. During the rise of then Senator Obama, Dallen set his sights on pursuing the progressive policy agenda. He won his first ever election as President of his freshman dorm in Falls Hall in 2008, and that next spring was elected as a Senator to the student government. In the summer of 2010, Dallen served as an intern for Congressman Lloyd Doggett from the 25th district of Texas. Today he continues to play piano, cheer on his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys, and fight for progressive policy.

Programs Director - Dancey Glover

Dancey Glover comes from Austin, TX and is majoring in Government and minoring in Rhetoric and Writing at the University of Texas at Austin through the Liberal Arts Honors Program. Although she was too young to vote in the ’08 elections, she interned with the Travis County Democratic Party and got her first taste of grassroots campaigning. Since then, she has been an active member of the University Democrats at UT, serving as a Mobilization Committee Co-Chair as well as Events Coordinator. She has also interned for State Representative Mark Strama. Dancey spent her most recent Spring Break lobbying in Washington, D.C. on behalf of the Student Aide and Fiscal Responsibility Act, which passed as part of the historical health care Reconciliation Bill. Outside of politics, Dancey serves as a Community Educator for Youth Partnership for Change, a nonprofit organization committed to educating students about the negative effects and consequences of underage drinking.

Communications Director - Alexander Matthew Clark

Alexander Clark hails from Sherman, TX and is a Political Science and Public Leadership double major within the 5 year Master of Arts in Teaching program at Austin College. Starting as an intern, precinct captain, and delegate for Barack Obama in the primaries, he has since become very active in Democratic politics. Since then he served as President of his Young Democrats club, worked for the Melancon for U.S. Congress campaign, with the College Democrats of America Faith Caucus, and now with the Bill White for Texas campaign. He is the Student Body Secretary at Austin College as well as a member of the Posey Leadership Institute, Pre-Law Society, Chi Tau Chi Greek ecumenical brotherhood, and Alpha Phi Omega. Outside of school and politics, he maintains the local Young Life–a non-denominational ministry for high school students that has provided good clean fun since 1941.

Political Affairs Director - David de la Fuente

David de la Fuente is a junior at Southern Methodist University where he is double majoring in Sociology and Political Science. Born and raised in Dallas, David has been active in Dallas area politics since 2006 volunteering and working on judicial, mayoral, initiative, state house, county judge and coordinated campaigns. Currently, he serves as President of the SMU College Democrats and sits on the Board of Directors for the Dallas County Young Democrats. David is an avid tennis fan and is the current editor-in-chief of SMU’s satirical newspaper, The Muddler. If he could be any animal, he would be a Homo Sapiens.

Membership Director - Kendall Scudder

Kendall was born in Texarkana, Texas and raised in Sulphur Springs, Texas. He became active at a very young age before becoming president of the Sulphur Springs High School Young Democrats. He later served as a Precinct Captain for Obama for America and was a delegate at the 2008 and 2010 Texas Democratic Conventions. After moving to Huntsville, Texas to attend Sam Houston State University (SHSU), studying Political Science and Communication Studies, Kendall became President of the Bearkat Democrats of SHSU and the Region IX Director for Texas Young Democrats (TYD). Kendall currently serves as the Vice President of Membership for TYD, and as the TYD Rural Caucus Vice-Chair.

President Emeritus - Andy Jones

Andy is a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (Class of 2010) and will be starting Baylor Law in the Spring. During his presidency, the Texas College Democrats held their first annual Fall Conference, raised an unprecedented amount of funds, and more than doubled in size. As President Emeritus, Andy looks forward to continuing the outstanding work of the Texas College Democrats and serving the State of Texas. In his personal life, Andy enjoys acting, TaeKwonDo, and various other non-political activities.

Events Coordinator - Elizabeth Joyce

Elizabeth Joyce is a senior at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, born and raised in the Houston-area.  She is majoring in Anthropology and minoring in both History and Environmental Studies.  Elizabeth remembers being the only Democrat in her 6th grade class in 2000, arguing with everyone why Al Gore should be elected.  Since being at Baylor, her interest in social issues peaked and she became active in Baylor Democrats at the beginning of her junior year.  Shortly after, she became Treasurer under now-President Emeritus, Oscar Boleman, and currently serves as President of Baylor Democrats.  On top of BU Dems, Elizabeth is also active in Kappa Delta, a Panhellenic sorority, serving as Vice President –Standards.
